Women’s League plans garage sale
The Wylie Women’s League will be hosting its Trinkets to Treasures garage sale at American National Bank, 301 S. Hwy. 78, April 21.

Smith Library hosting
craft swap event
There will be a crafters’ swap meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, at the Smith Public Library.
Crafters with extra yarn, fabric, scrapbook supplies, beads, ribbons, silk flowers, glue, buttons, glitter, etc., may bring them to trade with other crafters who may have what they need.
Items may not be sold, and vendors aren’t invited, organizers said.
The event is for ages 18 and up, and sponsored by the Crafter’s Co-op, 201 N. Ballard Ave., Ste. 101.
Community asked to turn purple April 13
April is the “Month of the Military Child,” a time designated to honor youth impacted by deployment.
In celebration, Texas Operation: Military Kids, part of the 4-H Youth Development program of Texas AgriLife Extension, is inviting the public to participate in the second annual “Purple Up! For Military Kids” day, April 13.
Will to Walk annual
fundraiser set for April 21
The Will to Walk 5K and 1M fun walk/run will be held at 8 a.m. April 21 at Wylie Stadium, 2550 W. FM 544.
Entry fee is $10 for the 1M fun run/walk on the track and $25 for the off-road 5K course. The registration for the 5K is $30 on race day. Proceeds from the event will go to the William Henry Smith III and Addison Grace Roland funds at Inwood Bank.

Junior League sale set for April 14 in Plano
The Junior League of Collin County will hold its 23th annual Trinkets to Treasures rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 14 at the Plano Centre, 2000 E. Spring Creek Pkwy. in Plano.
All proceeds from the event benefit the charitable projects and programs the league supports.
Democratic Convention
slated for April 21
The 2012 Collin County Democratic Convention will be April 21 at the Plano Centre, 2000 E. Spring Creek Pwky. in Plano.
Any voter registered in Collin County who signs an oath of affiliation to the Democratic
Party will be able to attend the county convention, organizers said.

Connemara hosting
EarthFest April 7
An egg hunt featuring thousands of biodegradable eggs filled with wildflower seeds, kites filling the morning skies and kayaks floating in open ponds will highlight EarthFest 2012 from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. April 7 at the Connemara Meadow Preserve.

Cowboy church hosting
equestrian play days
Higher Trails Cowboy Church, 5544 FM 903 in Celeste, is hosting four weeks of Play Day equestrian events – April 21 and 28 and May 5 and 12. Exhibitions start at 10 a.m. and the Play Day begins at noon. Events include quarter hourse barrels, poles and flags. Cost per event is $5.

Downtown market set for this Saturday
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7, Farmersville Main Street will again host the Farmers & Fleas Market at the historic Onion Shed in downtown Farmersville.
This month, the Rotarians will host a blood drive.

Quilt guild to host
zippered bag how-to
At the next meeting of the Farmersville Quilt Guild, Bonnie Smith and Joan Aquartero will teach how to make small zippered bags.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the O.E. Carlisle Civic Center in Farmersville. Members are asked to bring their sewing machines, basic sewing supplies, two fat quarters and a cut-to-fit zipper.
Members are also reminded to bring their block-of-the-month squares, flower fat quarters for the drawing, and two blocks with their signature for the birthday celebration in June.

Celebrate Nature
at Heard Sanctuary
The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary’s one-day outdoor spring festival, Celebrate Nature, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 14.
The day will include live concerts, interactive animal presentations, a Blackland Prairie Raptor Show, guided trail tours, canoe demonstrations, “green” vendors, nature-inspired and handcrafted items. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to create a fashion from recyclable materials for a Recycling Fashion Show at 1 p.m.
Admission to is $9 for adults, $6 for children ages 3-12 and seniors, and free for children ages 2 and under.
