Those interested in running for a seat on the Murphy City Council or Wylie ISD or Plano ISD Board of Trustees may file beginning Feb. 8.

The General Election will be May 8.

There are four expiring terms on the Murphy City Council: Place 1, currently held by Colleen Halbert; Place 2, currently held by Roxanne Bogdan; Place 4, currently held by Scott Bradley; and Place 6, currently held by Eric Barna.

All council terms are for three years. There is no limitation on the number of terms any one person may serve.

Candidate packets and filing forms are available on the city’s Web site at www.murphytx.org. Packets can also be made available on a portable USB flash drive or hard-copy paper upon request to the city secretary.

Anyone wishing to apply for a place on the ballot should obtain a candidate packet and filing form packet and submit the appropriate forms to the city secretary.

The city secretary’s office is located at 206 N. Murphy Rd.

For more information, contact City Secretary Aimee Nemer at 972-468-4011 or anemer@murphytx.org.

On the WISD school board, Places 5, 6, and 7, Susan Shuler, Sue Nicklas and Stacie Gooch, respectively, are up for re-election.

School board hopefuls should pick up a packet from Joyce Woods at the Wylie Education Center, 951 S. Ballard Ave. in Wylie.

In Plano ISD, Places 1, 2 and 3, held by Duncan Webb, Mary Beth King and John Muns,  are up for re-election. Applications are available from the Plano ISD Communications Office, 2700 W. 15th Street, in Plano.

Applications must be signed and notarized with the place stated for which the applicant is a candidate.

The term of office for school trustee is three years.

All applications filed are public records and open to inspection upon request. Completed forms must be filed in the Communications Office.

The deadline for filing is March 8.

Early voting for the May 8 election begins April 26 and ends May 4.
