Old Settlers Aquatic Center

The Old Settlers Aquatic Center features a shallow water leisure pool, an open flume slide and cascading waterfall. Located at 1101 E. Louisiana St., McKinney, the pool is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Family swim is 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday. Plano – Flicks for Kids

The Studio Movie Grill, 4721 W. Park Blvd. (between Ohio and Preston).  The 2009 Summer Children’s Series features a different movie every week, and they’re all G or PG rated. Showtime is 11 a.m.; tickets are $1 for kids and $2 for adults. Studio Movie Grill offers full food service in addition to the movie. Kids’ meals, which (except for cheese pizza) come with French fries, are all $5.99 and include chicken tenders, hamburgers, cheese pizza, and corny dogs. There’s also a junior sundae for $4.25. Playing House

Little princes and princesses and their parents are in for a happily-ever-after experience at the Dallas Arboretum where there are 14 storybook playhouses ready for the exploring. The playhouses are based on children’s books, including “James and the Giant Peach,” “Peter Pan,” “Eragon,” and “Treasure Island.” Before you go, visit and click on pictures of the playhouses to hear a story about each, then head for the Arboretum at 8525 Garland Rd., Dallas, on the southeast side of White Rock Lake. Admission is $9.50 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and up, and $6 for kids 3 – 12. Parking is $5.
