Eighth-grade Silver team goes unbeaten

The Lady Maverick eighth-grade Silver team finished the season 14-0 after knocking off Robinson 31-18 on Monday.
A few days earlier, they captured the City Tournament title, beating Hendrick 44-15, Robinson 36-28 and Renner 30-20 in the process.

It was the second straight year Murphy’s eighth-grader Silver team has won the title. Among the tournament stars were Lindzee Johnson, who scored 20 against Hendrick, and Emily Anderson, who had 11 versus Robinson.
Katie Schumacher added seven points, while Sarah Bock and Johnson each had six against Robinson.

Navy team sails on
Murphy’s eighth-grade Navy team defeated Rice 34-25 on Monday.

Paris Bridges burned Rice with 12 points, while Whitney Fox added four. Kathleen Uncad and Cheryl Fox each had a three-pointer.

The Navy team will play in its City Tournament, starting Friday at Murphy.
